Valerie Nelms - Collegiate Coach

I am a 2003 graduate of Texas A&M Commerce. I have received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Sports Studies with a minor in Biology. I am pursing a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology and Sports Studies. I have taught public school for one year and I am nearing my second year which will begin August 16, 2004.  I have just recently  passed my teacher certification exams to be a certified teacher in Texas. I was lucky enough to pass both portions on the first try. (Thank God!)  After completing my Masters Degree in December I hope to go on to be a successful collegiate coach. My educational career at A&M Commerce has been okay. I have met many interesting people both students and faculty. My most influential instructor and advisor was Dr. John Paul Slovak, Professor of Biology. I really think I looked up to him because he used to be a coach and I just liked his personality. He made me understand that there is a time for work and a time for play. The most memorable class I had was Biology 101. I really thought it was interesting. I am really pleased with my educational status at this point, but I do make time for other things such as shopping and playing volleyball.
